Hope can live alongside pain
My belief is that each person is uniquely capable of transforming their lives with the right kind of support. The way that we handle life stressors, how we view our past and how we enact change are always evolving. I’m here to partner with you through that process using a strengths based, mindful approach that examines what’s working for you and what needs adjusting. If you are experiencing grief, my goal is to help you and/or your child integrate the reality of your loss into your daily lives in a healthy, meaningful way.
I draw upon nearly 15 years as a grief therapist to inform the way that I approach the therapeutic relationship and the multitude of ways that grief impacts our lives. Grief comes in many different forms – you decide what or where the loss is in your life (or your child’s) and we work together from there to find a path towards finding ways to bear what feels unbearable.
I love using sea glass as an analogy for how I look at grief. The glass started as one object but unexpectedly found itself being tossed and thrown about the sea, ultimately undergoing a major transformation. It will never be what it once was but in its new form, it is something unique and beautiful. In our work together you can expect a gentle yet direct approach as we explore what kind of transformation you feel ready for.
*I hold a Compassionate Bereavement Care Certification, which is sponsored by the Center for Loss and Trauma in partnership with the MISS Foundation and the Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Family Trust. Broadly speaking, this means that I have specialized training in traumatic loss (loosely defined as a sudden death, the death of a child or a violent death).
I work with children ages 4 and up (along with their caregiver), teens and adult clients.
